Timing problems on XP Pro?

Hi guys..

I've recently reinstalled XP again, since my hard drive half-died (although it still works, I dare not put much data on it for now cos I still don't have time to get it checked out). Now most of my stuff are installed and usable so far, but when some games are running they seem to be running on steriods.

It is a new computer, given that , but still.. things go too fast! It's like turbo has been turned on for all games.. .. so I was wondering what could be the matter? I thought it was because I haven't installed the motherboard drivers (although it was still working fine till then), but even after I did, nothing has improved (or slowed down).

You want to slow down your PC? Have you considered using a slower processor or removing some RAM from your system?

Seriously tho, what games are you playing? If it's something made for the DOS era etc. you could slow down the game by going through this: http://www.dosgames.com/faq.php#3
Personally, I wouldnt recommend it since you have no idea about the compatibility of such programs with XP.

I've been playing MechCommander 2 (kinda old game) and Need For Speed Most Wanted (somewhat recent game)..

MC2 worked fine under my previous windows setup, so I'm thinking it should be the drivers or something.. Even in windows when I use RK launcher the animation seems to be too fast as well, so it's not limited to within games..

What is too fast about it? Is the game going too fast to actually figure out what's going on, or i it just an uber 1337 pc?

Try setting it to Win 95 compatibility mode and see if that helps.

Well basically they're just going too fast to figure out what the heck is happening..

Think menus and icons spinning/bouncing unnaturally fast.

Anyway, min specs for MC2 is Win2000 & above. (wouldn't run with anything lower)

Wish I had an uber l33t PC! (although for me its in the whereabouts for my purposes)
