Very weird

This error pops up at random. I could be on line or pressing a link to a program. I can't figure this out. Any ideas??

Thanks

I'm thinking Office is configured for automatic updates, and is trying to do so and not succeding.

I agree with ktk. The new Microsoft Update combines the Windows Update and Office Update sites into one and will attempt auto updates. Try changing the Auto Update to "notify but don't download anything" and it should stop.

You mean OFFICE 2000, right? Are you trying to remove it in the Add/Remove programs area?

Try a repair of Office instead.

Do you have any features of Office 2k set to "install when first run" .. I believe there are a few settings for individual components for Office 2k. One to install to hard drive, the other to install on the first run and one not to install a particular feature. Also, look in the installation options. There should be a component called system information (or something similar - it has been a few years since I've used Office 2k) .. try uninstalling that feature.
