Any idea on how to trouble shoot why the remote desktop connection is not working. This computer used to be able to accept remote desktop connection but not anymore. I'm not sure why. Nothing has been changed that I know of.

Make sure your settings match those in the guide:

are you trying to access from inside the LAN or from a WAN connection?

From WAN. I am able to connect from school to my server but not to my PC. After connected to my server, I can connect to my PC. This problem only exist in about 2 weeks or so. Before that it was working perfectly fine.

you can change the RDP Listening port number on your machine you are trying to connect to something besides the default of 3389 and forward ports to say 3391. so now instead of connecting via wan by 10.10.10.100 which will default to port 3389 in Remote desktop you would type 10.10.10.100:3391 and it will take you directly to your pc on from a wan connection because you will forward TCP port3391 to your static ip address assigned to your pc. if you dont have a static ip i would strongly recommend you do to prevent the ip from changing which would prevent you from logging in remotely over a wan connection. You can still access your server at 10.10.10.100 which is still listening on port 3389 by default.
you can change the RDP listening port here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp One downside is when you try and access the pc inside your LAN you have to add the port number into the computer name ie: WS01:3391 if you try and access it as WS01 it will default to 3389 when you try and connect, but the machine your connecting to wont be listening on that port, its listening on 3391. |

Thanks, but I always has been doing that so that I can connect anyone computer on my LAN. I also filter the port on my switch so that it recognizes which computer I'm trying to connect to but right now it just won't work.
