My Computer is really messed up.

I had installed Zone Alarm Beta on Friday, but I kept getting blue screens of death. I uninstalled it, and performed a System Restore. However, after realizing that several of my programs and my disk drives no longer worked. I went into Device manager, and it told me that my CD Drives' Drivers were either corrupted or missing. I need help, and fast.

HP PRESARIO SA4000T
x600 256MB ATI Radeon Vid Card
80GB HDD
HL-DT-ST-DVDRRW GWA-4083B (Taken directly from Device Manager)
SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616E
3.2GHZ HT (Intel)
768MB Ram

Please, help me!
It would be appreciated.

another reason y i recommend not using system restore.

can you see your drives in device manager? if so uninstall them and either scan for hardware changes or restart your pc and have windows detect and reinstall them.

if the programs have the option go into the control panel and run a repair or backup any critical data for each program and uninstall/reinstall each program thats not working.

I did everything like you said, but the cd drives refuse to work. I can't even perform a system restore (to factory settings) because of this... any other sugestions?
and it continues to repeatedly give me messages about 'Hardware Found' and then it says that it hasn't been digitally signed to work with XP.

I forgot about that! Thankfully, my computer doesn't need a disk for it, since it's already in a backup partition...I hope it works...

nothing worked. Chkdsk did manage to 'recover' some lost files, like my ability to save bookmarks on IE.
However, I still have the CD Drive issue, and the Add Hardware Manager won't stop bugging me about it, as it says "Found New Hardware, CD-ROM DRIVE" every five seconds.
Is there any other way you could help me?

I can't reinstall the system, as for some reason, if I press F10 on startup, it won't work...I don't know why. and I can't put in my XP disk either, as my Drives aren't working.... Is there any other way?

if you go into device manager, does the cd drive show with a yellow exclamation point on it?
right click and go to properties>click the driver tab>driver details and take note of all the drivers in there and there locations, then uninstall the drive from th device manager again. before you scan for hardware changes or restart, go search and make sure all the drivers for the cd drive have been removed, if not, move them to a temp folder for now, and then restart the pc and see if that fixes the drive.

go into your bios and see if it recognizes the cd drive. if so then you should be able to run a repair by booting to the xp disc.

"No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device..." that;s what it said when I checked Device Manager after reboot; should I install the drivers now because the Add Hardware Manager is bugging me again...

EDIT: I pressed the isntall button and it didn't work.
It said the name of the driver for the disk was (in device manager) pxhelp20.sys
In the PC Doctor Diagnostics, it said cdrom.sys
Also, when I was performing the system Restore, it popped up with several errors-could this be part of the problem???

If I simply transfer settings from another working computer will THAT work, instead of resetting, reinstalling everything to factory settings on the computer that I'm using?

Reinstall your CD/DVD burning software. That's where pxhelp20.sys comes from.

If you had told us you had an error code, we would have pointed you right to that article. This is very common.
