XP Add/Remove Pgms
Hi. My first posting. When I try to add a component from the XP installation disk, I get an error message that says something to the effect that I am unable to add or remove programs due to limitations set by the Administrator. Well, I'm the only one using this computer and I'm the Administrator. I have a number of services disabled, but I can't see where there's any service that would affect that - I'm not sure which service that would be, if any. I've had no trouble installing or removing programs before this, and I'm pretty sure this is something that just happened very recently - like yesterday. I have no idea what could have caused it. I am not connected to the Internet with this computer because I use it for music production. Is there any way I can check what services I as the Administrator might have turned off? The message in the Event List says "DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service netman with arguments "" in order to run the server: {BA126AE5-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}"
MJL54 ![]() thanks for any help PS I did get an earlier message when I installed a program recently that said,"Invalid Handler." I know handler refers to the application that is supposed to open and close files on the CD, but how to fix that? Last edited by MJL54; 12-09-2006 at 01:06 AM. |
