background mp3 in OE6
Using Outlook Express 6.00 under Win XP Home SP2
Choosing Format | Background | Sound ... | Browse ... , I navigated to a folder of mp3 files and selected one. It played within the OE email. After I selected the recipient and clicked the Send button, it returned this message: "One of more of the pictures in this message could not be found. When you send this message these pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want to send this message?" There are no pictures in the message and when I send the email to myself, it arrives intact and the mp3 file plays - as long as the mp3 file is still on my system. If I rename the mp3 file and open the email, it doesn't play. This leads me to believe that if I send the email to others, they will not hear the mp3 file unless it's on their system (which it ain't). Is that true? What's the purpose of this message relative to mp3 files? How do I resolve this so I can have something play when my recipient opens his email? Thanks EdP |

Ignore that question
Ignore my previous message ... I just found this reference:
The following table lists the file formats that Outlook Express supports for background sound. Audio files .wav, .snd, .au, .aif, .aifc, .aiff MIDI files .mid, .rmi, .midi Real Media files .ra, .rm, .ram, .rmm One would think that if the file name extension appeared in the browse box, they would be supported. |

If you sent me an email with embedded music I think I'd be kinda ticked off.........
If you want to send someone a mp3, attach it. |

Not so new

I'd be quite annoyed myself.
It is probably HTML (I used to know it well): HTML Code:
<embed src="www.link.com/to/your/song.mp3">
