Not sure where this belongs, but I'll start here and move it if I have to.
I'm running Windows XP SP2 I'm constantly downloading large files (movies/television episodes) and placing them in 2 or 3 different folders I have. One day I decided to free up some space on my HD and delete the biggest files first, the movie files. But when I run a search for all movie files in My Computer and sort by size, I see DOUBLES of every single movie file I own! AVI/DIVX/MOV/MPG it doesn't matter. They all have copies in the same destination, with the exact same size and all the same attributes. When I delete one of them, THEY BOTH GET DELETED! I can't help but think this is what's really eating up the space because I have an 80GB HD and I know what my average movies sizes are and I shouldn't only have 10GB free. Any word on what the problem may be? Thanks in advance! -N8 |

If the problem is exactly as you describe, then I think two things. First, scan for viruses/trojans. Or two, maybe the files are located in the same folder that your DL client keeps it's source files in, and for whatever reason is linking the two (the source file and the actual file). That alone would be highly suspicious...If that latter is the case, I would change whatever client you are using.

I've checked all the FAQ and settings on my downloading and I don't see any settings that would cause it. Again though, I only see the duplicate files after I run a search on my computer for any/all video files.
