friday i unistalled world of warcraft after i couldnt get the game to work.. didnt really care just unstalled and went on wigh my business. I leave for the weekend and come back, the computer comes to novell network ready firmware thing and then says some stuff then counts to 200 slowly before saying i need a boot disc. I got the boot disc and i put the first one in, it says its needs boot disc 2. it freezes after I put in the boot disc. After changing a few things in the bios i got the firmware thing to go away but when it checks for something to boot from it says cd boot not found or boot from floppy, theres usualy 3 but now theres 2 and it says i need a boot disc. ive formatted the computer now and i\try to install windows xp.
says copmpying files to install or whatever and then says needs to reboot. well after it reboots its goes into the same screen and doesnt ever go into windows like i know it should... basically it justs says i need boot disc or boot from cd and go into the same install xp screen. can anyone help with this because im out of ideas and really need help. |

Hi danteskewl
Try entering the Bios Setup for your computer - press the key mentioned in the banner message/splash screen as you power up, "Press F1 (or F2, F10, or DEL, etc.) to Enter Setup" -- and look for a value "Save Defaults and Exit" - select that & let the computer reboot from the hard drive. It sounds like the Boot Order settings in your Bios are off - it's been trying to boot from just about everything but your hard drive. After an XP install, if you still have the XP CD in the drive, you must NOT boot from the CD after says it needs to restart your computer -- you need to choose "boot from hard drive" at that point. Otherwise, XP Setup will start all over again. Might run some malware scans, visit Windows Update, and get run a good Registry cleaner to clean up the mess that the game might have left laying around. [CCleaner is a good choice --- run its Cleaning functions to clear temp files, use the "Issues" functions to clear up the Registry -- run the "issues" function a few times until it reports "no issues found" --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...-10315544.html Best of luck . . . Gary [P.S. ... and Welcome to the PC Mechanic Forums! ] |
