Cool Upgrading Op Sys on a blank hard drive

Can an Windows XP upgrade be installed on a blank hard drive by putting a Windows 98/ME/etc full version CD in the CD drive during the compliance check? That is, the prior Windows version does not have to be loaded on the hard drive at the time of the upgrade. ??

No.. just start the install, it will ask for the qualifying CD for verification during the installaiton process.
