Question reinstalling windows xp

hello. i want to reinstall windows xp on my desktop.can i just remove the hard drive and try reinstalling it on another drive thats clean but formatted?

What kind of desktop do you have? System specs...?

thermaltake armor case, k8n neo 4 platinum ,amd 4000,windows is oem.

XP will format the disc for you upon installation. So you can put in a new or unformatted HDD.
