Update for Intel conroe core 2 duo WXP Pro
Is there a hotfix or update for Intel conroe core 2 duo E6600 Proc running WXP Pro 32 SP2? I searched MS and couldn't find any. I just built a new rig for video editing only & the new rig will not go on the internet for any reason. If someone has a link or info on it I would greatly appreciate it. TIA.

Did you install the drivers for the network adaptor?
Are there any conflicts in Device Manager?

What leads you to believe it's the processor that's stopping you from connecting to the internet? Generally that is a NIC or network issue.
Will another computer connect through the same cable? Have you configured TCP/IP to operate with your type of internet connection? |

The reason I am looking for the update if one exists at all is because the WXP Pro on my system was released in 2004 with SP2 on disk & the Conroe is a relatively new processor. One of my audio editing programs crashed on me on the conroe & I lost allot of work so I figured that maybe the OS was to blame. So I don't want to try Vista yet & I am unsure about WXP64 so maybe I need a fix for my OS? Also I read a few months ago (can't remember where) that someone had or was looking for a hotfix for his conroe so I figured that maybe one exists. I searched on Google, MS, this forum & several others but to no avail. I hope that this clears up my ambigious post .....stayed up until 4AM thats when I posted so my brain was working OT & not so well at that! I appreciate that you both tried to help. Hope you have a great Holiday. |

Have you looked in the event viewer to see if any errors around the time of the crash. This may give a hint as to what mat be causing the problem.
Also, check on the Asus website for BIOS upgrades, there may be something there to correct the problem. To get the XP updates and hotfixes you do need to get on the internet.
