boot disk-how to

i ahve to install hard drive mechanic program..instructions ask me to
--In order to use the Mechanic, you need a Windows 98® boot disk...i ahve the bootdic
--i unzipped the files to another diskette
---Once you have a clean boot disk, place it into your computer and turn the computer
on.
When you are the ‘A:’ prompt, remove the boot diskette, insert the Mechanic Gold
diskette and type HDMGOLD and press , the main menu will come up.
If you see and error about a XMS memory Handler, please be sure you do not have
the files autoexec.bat and config.sys on your boot disk. Additionally, you MUST use a
Windows 98 boot disk, you cannot use an ME or XP boot disk.

1... i set the boot squence to DISKETTE...after inserting the boot diskette i have 3 options
1.normal
2.-boot from cd
3.-boot from hard drive...
since i need to go to a: prompt.again to put the other floppy with hard drive mechanic.what should i do...
haven't done this for long,long time...don't know
so please give some instructions..thanks

What you NEED is a Windows 98 computer to MAKE a bootdisk. Put a blank floppy in it, open a command prompt, and type FORMAT A: /S

When you put the second floppy in, type DIR at the A prompt. What do you see?

The win98 boot disk has options to boot with cd support or to boot without cd support.
Evidently you do not have the plain jane boot disk.
Do as GLC says to make one, or from 98 start, settings, control panel, add/remove, startup disk tab.

The startup disk is not driver free. The method I posted is a bare driver free bootdisk.
