High CPU load when internet browsing
Hi there.
I amd a new forum member and fairly new to pc troubleshooting. I am running xp home sp1 upgraded I think to sp2. A recent thing has happened this week. When I browse using either Firfox or IE, cpu loading shoots right up and stays ther, web pages take foreve to load (I am on cable), cpu loading stays up even when I have killed the browser through Task Manager, and then the same even when I have turned off / disconnected the cable modem. At this stage, Task Manager processes tab suggests that most of the loading is driven through SYSTEM and SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS. I have downloaded the latest updates and run the following programs as complete scans with nothing more than a few innocuous cookies to speak of: Spybot S&D, Syware Blaster, AGV Virus (Free), AVG Anti-Spyware (Free), A-squared (Free). Any further suggestions are welcome. johnwmck |
