Errors in some Install apps

While I have successfully installed several apps to my new build on Win XP Media Center there are two, Adobe 7.0 and Diskkeeper Lite, that fail as the installer sets up. The error message says the Installer failed to set up.
Any work-around on this? I'd really like to get Diskkeeper Lite to work.
The only cause I can think of is when I was installing Win XP it kept asking for a file associated with i386 or something which it couldn't read off of any of my 3 Win XP install disks.

TIA

That could very well be the problem. You may want to do a windows repair reinstall.

I tried to do it last night but there was no option to repair available. What gives?
While looking further into the problem the file XP was looking for during its installation is IEXPLORE. Does that shed more light on the problem?

Okay, I got the instructions on doing a repair install from Windows' website. I tried it this morning and it worked!
That pesky file uploaded properly after juggling the 3 different disks around.
Then I successfully installed Adobe Acrobat 7.0!

Success never felt so good! Thanks, George.
