WinXP installation (HELP!)
Whenever I run WinXP Pro Cd on start-up, winxp setup is then loaded into the screen right?
But whenever the setup try to load files, I always get this message "partmgr.sys is corrupted" and then it prompts me to restart. I tried to install an older version which is Win98 and it works properly. Again, I tried to re-install again winxp but to no avail, it displays random error messages on the screen like "pci.sys is corrupted" "error on line 7" "cannot load haclp.." I need help on this. And I am dying to have my computer fix. Please help me.

To me it sounds like you have a bad disc, are there any visible scratches on there?
If you can get your hands on another copy of the CD, then you might like to try that. It's fine to do that as long as you use your Licence Key.

XP is a lot fussier than 98 with ram. You may have a defective module.
