Slows Down
hello,

my problem is this: when i try to open for example a folder or a file it takes a very long time to load. this also happens for my internet connection. its like when i open a file it takes a long time for it to open another file..if im confusing anybody im sry.

an example would be..i try to open a word doc and it takes a long time to open up word or when i open a media file it takes a long time to open up WMP..etc

plz give advice or suggestion thc

And what does this have to do with alternative operating systems?

umm i dont really know how else to put it.
when i try to open a certain file it takes a long time to open up. when i try to cancel a certain window it takes a long time for it to close or just wont respond.

Why did you post in alternative operating systems? This forum is for Linux, etc. not Windows issues.

Uninstall the Nvidia firewall. It's known to cause problems like this. Use just the XP firewall.

Edit: I'm sorry, there are more than one programs/processes called GetRight. I assume you have the download manager and not the virus.

sry to bump this thread back up again but i think i should start another new thread for this kind of problem i have.

my computer connection is seriouslt screw up. im using verizon DSL and its going very slow. i check my connection on http://www.wugnet.com/myspeed/speedtest.asp and speedtest also and they both show that my conection around 500-700 kbps

im not sure if im affected by a virus or not because i scan my computer using AVG free edition and it showed nothing wrong.

i tried doing multiple spyware and malware scans and i also clear my temp files too. i use firefox and sometimes IE7 and they both are around the same speed.

for you slow computer when opining files try running a diskdefragment

and for your internet conection go to internet options and clean out the history cookies
if that doesn't work go to network connections and go to veiw network connections
and select you connection and right click and click repair and this should work
