Changing Win XP Boot and Logon Skins
I just downloaded bootskin and logon changer from stardock and when i changed my bootskin it would load and right before the logon screen i would get BSOD so i put back default and removed the software. Is there any way of doing this manually because these 3d party programs are messing up my comp. I even tried the style xp boot skin changer and it didn't work. I've already tried to replace the ntoskrnl.exe in system 32 with the book skin file but it didnt seem to work it still loaded with the normal windows xp logo so i just put it back.

Happy New Year Spearball, I 'd like to ask a question did you do a little maintenance before d/l Stardock and installing bootskins. I'd suggest that you run your anti-virus, spyware/malware utilities then do a defrag of your hdd. Uninstall Stardock then run said utilities then reinstall Stardock. I find that Stardock is kind of sensitive and needs to be install on a clean hdd.
Also run a Windows Memory Diagnostic http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp instructions are found at the fore mentioned.

Changing Win XP Boot and Logon Skins
Quote:
easy way: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.ph...hl=boot+screen the harder way: http://virtualplastic.net/html/logo_scr.html#xpboot you need to reshack ntoskrnl.exe. Be careful you could really mess up your system if you don't know what you're doing. |
