Unhappy windows xp repair trouble

I am trying to update my system. New parts - Biostar Tforce4 SLI mobo, Amd64 4000+, ram is Buffalo 1024, (ram is bad), XFX GeForce 7600GS video card, Antec 500w w/smart power 2.0. Old parts - case, western digital 80 gb drive, 2 cdroms, dvd, samsung 17" monitor & floppy. Old cpu was Amd 2500 Barton core and matsonci mobo.

Problem - Use repair to attempt to fix windows xp. First problem was setup cannot copy file:hal.dll; error code 7. That problem was fixed by removing new ram and using my old viking 512 ram. (Viking is not on recommended list of ram).

New Problem - setup cannot copy file:driver.cab. When windows tries to start it goes to the xp screen then a blue screen with what appears to say something about drivers but it goes by so fast that I can't read it.

Can anyone help me fix the copy file problem? I have tried different cdroms, cabes, ide slots and changed everything that i can think of in bios. If I knew how to stop screen so that I could read it maybe that would help. I have also check ms website, mobo website for ideas. HELP!

You probably still have bad ram. Have you run memtest86+ on it?

Thanks glc

No i have not. I don't have memtest86+. Where do I get it?

Found memtest86 will now try to see if I can use it.

Ran memtest 86 on old memory passed. Ran memtest86 on new memory and stopped test after test 2. Only 1% had passed by then.

Buffalo is on the reccommended list for biostar and viking is not. The voltage for buffalo was 2.6 which is spec. could not find spec for viking it was at 3.3v. I don't know if that could have anything to do with it or not.
