Question Windows XP Password Recovery

Hello. I have some questions. How Do I get back a windows XP password which I fogot? Is there any way to do it without using any extra software? Will I loose any file if I get the password back?

I went through the process with the Windows XP CD but when I get to the Repair Screen It asks me for Which partition I want to log on from the 3 I have and that's it, the process stops there. Is there any better way to do it?

If you are talking about a user password and you made a recovery disk, you can use that.

If you did not make a password recovery disk, you are out of luck in these forums. Discussing alternate ways violate forum rules.
