splat Windows XP Re-Install & Missing Icons?

Hello All.

I recently formated my computer. And reinstalled Windows XP. And as soon as I reached the main menu screen I noticed something strange.

Among other odd things I noticed that the regular windows xp theme was not available. It was using windows classic theme. It appears to be missing Windows Explorer. It appears to be missing system restore even.... even internet explorer is not here.

One other thing I noticed was when I tried to use the "RUN" program in the start menu it was not functioning.

I will update my information regarding this problem in my future posts so please refer and look to my next post for more information and further discription of my problem.

With all those errors, I would try to reinstall XP again. Something went wrong. Is your disk legal, clean, free of scratches and a real XP cd, not a restore cd?

Its real. Its legal. Its XP not a restore disk.

Whats really important here is that usually there are no error messages just files that are missing that any normal install of XP should have....

Its as if the most basic of basic things are on it but with out actual body parts in it.

Let me put it this way. If you looked at this start up screen you would have thought it was windows 98 with out looking at the CD saying XP.

Also another thing: It takes at least 3 minutes for windows to load up.

Something went wrong during your reinstall, obviously. Since you haven't spent the time loading your files and programs yet, reinstall Windows again to correct the problem. Here is a link that explains how to start from scratch, step by step. Perhaps you'll be able to figure out what went wrong when you do it again.
