Problems upgrading to XP Pro
I'm having problems upgrading from XP Home to XP Professional. I have the upgrade disc, I start upgrading and everything seems fine. After awhile, an error message comes up that says "Setup cannot copy file 'insert file name here' Please make sure the Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 is insterted in the disc drive or locate the file." That's not exactly what it says, but it's something like that. The location its looking for all of these files is D:\i386. I click on "retry" but it keeps popping up. If I click cancel, it says something like "not installing this file may cause Windows to not function properly." Many of these error messages appear, and I have to cancel all of them. There was about 25 or more of these messages. I can finally get into Windows, but something is not working right. It goes to the desktop, but the icons and taskbar take about 5 minutes to appear. Another error message pops up, "To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program." The program is "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services." I also don't have Internet Explorer anywhere that I can find either. Any help and/or suggestions?
Sorry for the long paragraph and thanks for your help!
EDIT - My computer is a Dell Inspiron 700m
