New OS?

Currently on One of my computers i have windows 98se and a while ago i heard that microsoft was releasing a special OS that was for older computers such as mine that would mimic Windows Xp but would use a smaller footprint and require less system resources

I think I may have heard something along those lines, but if I'm not mistaken, it was for large businesses only.

Never heard of anything, but would be very interested if they did.

I have an old AMD K6(2) @533 that runs ok, but tired of reinstalling 98SE once a year or so. It gets buggy and starts to lock up or blue screen. After a clean install it runs just fine, for awhile. Tried to install XP on it once, but it didn't work. Maybe because of the old Compaq motherboard.
