Safely remove hardware

This icon appears in my taskbar, and can't figure how to get rid of it.. It shows both of my hd as the items to remove.. I naturally don't want them removed, so how to get rid of that icon in the taskbar thanks.....

you can choose to always hide it (if you have "hide inactive icons" checked).
i had it appear when i installed the motherboard driver. it asked me if i wanted to replace the hard drive drivers (or something like that) with the nvidia ones, and i said yes.

on my next windows installation, i chose no and it's gone.

I believe the reason that icon is there is because SATA Drives are designed to be hot swappable. (At least, that's what I hear.)

If you have IDE drives, then, no dice... and of course, it wouldn't be very smart to unplug your system drive with the OS running...

If you have sata drives and they're connected via sata power connectors, the drives are hot swappable,is this on a VIA motherboard?
If it is and you don't intend to use it,go to add/remove programs and I believe it's listed as Via platform drive, other systems may be similar.

You might like to use this, you can put an icon on desktop that will hide it, but you have to do it each boot. I would like to find a permanent way of keeping it out of view. Perhaps someone can make this file do it.Attachment 6613

I don't want to be a "Stick in the mud" but what does it hurt to just leave the icon there?
