XP user accounts and profiles

Hi,

Can anyone help me understand, or point me to an article that will help me to understand how XP User Accounts work.

The reason I am asking is because on this machine myself and my girlfriend each have an administrator account. I upgraded the AVG Free installation on my account, but her account was still using the old version and it also needed to be removed and reinstalled.

My understanding was that software had one installation, per machine, and it was just user profiles that changed with each user account.

Thanks in advance,
Tom Kear

Another thing I have noticed is that if I do a registry clean in one account, then in the other account then it's as though it has not previously been done.

That's normal. Hkey current user is different on each login, it dynamically loads.

AVG should have still come across - the first time you log into another profile it should have just popped up with the post-install screen, checked for updates, and gone on its merry way.
