Annoying Desktop.ini and Thumbs.ini
I have noticed that some folders that I made for files (e.g. graphics) have thumbs.ini (not sure if it's ini). While some folders that I also made have the desktop.ini. Is it safe to delete these .ini files when they appear.
I'm asking this since I have experienced problems on burning folders that have these .ini files to cd amongst other things. |

thumbs.db is a thumbnail cache that is created within every folder that you've viewed either in thumbnail or filmstrip view... it's harmless and shouldn't really have any bearing on your CD burning. However it's easy to get rid of .. Open any folder in Windows explorer .. go to Tools > Folder Options > View Tab > and check Do not cache thumbnails .. that should prevent the thumbnails to be cached.
desktop.ini is pretty much an annoyance, albeit harmless, that comes to existence when you customize a folder or simply view a folder in thumbnail mode .. basically, its the file that instructs Windows explorer to bring out a fancy new display just for the folder containing your pictures. Should be harmless to delete, but then again it shouldnt be interfering with your CD burning in the first place... I'd suspect your CD burner s/w if you were getting issues burning folders with a simple desktop.ini or thumbs.db file. |
