new build done, but...
Ok, I got my new motherboard and core 2 duo all hooked up, and I was even able to use my old OS and just slap my SATA hdd in there and it booted up installed a bunch of new drivers and works fine. The only thing is there were 4 drivers that could not be installed. All from the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers 'IDE channel' It gives me a message 'driver not intended for this platform'
but my IDE hard drive and CD-ROM and DVD-RW all still work. Do I need to uninstall something before I can install these drivers correctly? I cant complain to much, I have an nice empty partition ready to put a second install of xp pro then I can install all my programs at my convenience. Which really helps because thats close to 50 hours to fully install everything. And considering I moved from an amd athlon xp cpu/nvidia chipset to an Intel core 2 duo cpu and Intel chipset I expected more problems, lets see vista do that! lol I guess vista would have to run on my old cpu to even try

You need to install the drivers from the motherboard CD.

Did you uninstall everything that says Nvidia besides the video card driver? You probably still have the NForce platform drivers running around in there.

well I tried, I can see nforce drivers in add/remove programs but clicking on the remove button doesnt do anything, I was however able to get 2 of the drivers in question installed, now I have 2 left, one is showing a yellow ! and the other is disabled, I'll keep at it. If I fix it to good I may not want to do a fresh install. lol

You should have uninstalled all that stuff before pulling the drive out of the old box - hindsight is wonderful, isn't it?
You might want to run a registry cleaner such as CCleaner. Uninstall all flagged and disabled devices in device manager. |
