How do you fix corrupted partitions?
I have a Dell Dimension running WinXP Pro SP2. I used to have a backup partition D but recently did a reinstall and designated my backup as F with D being my CD-RW drive. But Windows still shows some of my files as being in D. I deleted all partitons and reformatted the HDD before the reinstall but it didn't work. Is there a program or procedure that will enable me to fix this? Thanks.

Is the D drive your CD-RW like you designated?
Click on Start->Run and type diskmgmt.msc How may partitions does the hard drive show and what drive letter does it say it has?

It shows 3. The C drive, the F which is my new backup drive and D, the CD-ROM drive. It doesn't show the E drive which is my DVD drive. What's interesting it show the C and D as Primary partition. Thanks again for your help.

You can change the letters of any and all partitions and drives except C in disk management.
