XP memory requirments
I have tried XP with 256 meg of memory, and it ran a little slow, but it was all right. I then tried in with 512 meg of memory and it ran noticably faster. I am wondering if I had 1 gig of memory, would I notice much of a speed improvement [I use the computer for MS Office, surfing the net, I am not a gamer.
P.S. Can XP address a full 1 gig of memory? I heard it was maxed out at 700 meg or so. |

XP can handle up to 3.2GB of RAM. I would definitely bump it up to a Gig. It is our minimum for smoothness on XP.

Second the 1Gb recommendation.
Old XP box had 256 preinstalled and was deathly slow, added 512, major improvement, but still not quite enough to not lock up once in a while under heavy loads.
