How did this happen

I just built a new pc. I started to install xp. Everything went well untill. . . It shows a screen that says something about it will take 39 minutes to install. It never gets past that screen.

Is there a way I can remove the os from my harddrive now. When I start my pc I can hit delete to enter bios, and f12 to change my boot order. How do I delet or reformat my hard drive and start over.
Thanks in advance

Just boot from your XP CD and start a new installation. On the drive selection screen you will be given an option to delete & recreate your partitions and then format it.

what happens if you boot from the cd and choose to install again (and format the partition that you've already tried to install on)?

I had an issue similar to that with my rig. Make sure that your HDD is compatible with your mainboard. I was trying to run a Maxtor on my Asus M2N4-SLI board, and it wouldn't work.
