Documents and Settings not accessible

Hi, thanks for reading.

I recently upgraded my Socket A Athlon to an Intel Core2Duo (WOW ), and I installed XP onto a new harddrive. I placed the old harddrive in the tower, hoping to move over all my photos, music, and videos, but no such luck.

E:\Documents and Settings\User Name is not accessible.
Access is denied.

I can access ANY OTHER FILE on the E:drive, except for the one that I care about. Very frustrating.

Both HDD's are SATA, so there is no slave, just setting the boot device in the BIOS. I have not yet erased my old install of windows, thinking I might have to put it back into the old computer incase this doesn't work. Should I just boot with the old drive, move everything I want into a different folder, and reboot with the new drive? I really don't want to put all that stuff onto discs, not when it's right there in front of me.

I do have an 80 Gb external that I built awhile back, but I thought this would be eaiser, and faster than moving everything over with USB.

Thanks for any ideas, Mark.

1. Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message (if one appears).

There is no Security tab, I have General, Sharing, and Customize.

AH HA!!!!!

If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an account that has Administrative rights to have access to the Security tab.

I'll give that a shot in a second, working on the Outlook thread you replied to.

EDIT -- Worked like a charm!! Thanks again!!
