How to remove old (non-existant) OS from boot record

I've recently removed the default Windows XP MCE installation on my notebook and installed windows XP professional. When I installed XP Pro I deleted all partitions thinking that was the right thing to do and reformatted with NTFS (the slow way). However, my notebook still thinks MCE is installed and that I wish to dual boot it along side Professional, so I get that list of OS's everytime I boot.

Anyone know how to get rid of this?

Thanks in advance.

Control Panel->System Icon->Advance tab->Startup and Recovery settings button

The safe n easy way is to change the Time from 30 seconds to 1.
The be careful in what you're doing way is to click the Edit button and edit the boot.ini file.

I forgot about that file... its been so long! You actually reminded me that MSConfig checked the boot.ini file, and recognised Media Center was an invalid OS and removed it. Thanks much!

Download online a setup bootable disk for your hard drive and perform a low level format or write zero to the hard drive, it'll erase all data and even destroy previous partitions even the old recovey partition. Before doing this, make sure you have the windows XP original CDS which came with you PC or you purchased so you can do a clean Installation. It will detect a RAW hard dive and will refomat the hard drive though a NTFS file system.

Conexion, that is just bad advice. The person does not want to wipe his/her hard drive. Not only that, the issue is solved. Please read the entire thread more carefully before posting.
