Doesn't XP keep a log of events?
So, I wake up this morning to find my computer restarted on its own. I log in and everything works fine.
Can't I go somewhere in XP and view a log of what caused this restart?

It was probably a Windows update.
Control panel, administrative tools, event viewer. |

I have Update set to merely alert me when one comes up.
This is what the Event Viewer says: 7:01:53 Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 5.01. 2600 Service Pack 2 Multiprocessor Free. 7:01:57 The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xf02017c7, 0xb9d4cb64, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. What does this mean? |

right click my computer>properties>advanced>startup and recovery settings button>uncheck automatically restart which will just display the BSOD if your system is crashing vs. displaying it briefly and then restarting your pc again.
