C:\Windows\Install Folder

Hey,

Does anyone know if it is safe to delete the install files in C:\Windows\Install. They are taking up about 15Gigs on my laptop hard drive, and I don't know if I really need them in there or not.

Also, I tried partition magic to do it, but it didn't work: when I bought my laptop back about two years ago, It came with two partitions. The sixty gig hard drive was split into two approximately 30gig partitions. How can I combine these. If I could do this, I wouldn't have to worry about deleting those install files, since I have nothing on the second partition. I just want to combine the two partitions.

Thanks,

Dan

backup your data, delete the second partition so its unallocatted space using disc management utility, then resize the C: partition with the unallocated space using partition magic.

Did you create C> Windows> Install? Is this programs that you have downloaded and then installed? If so, just move it to your second partition, or delete the files after you back them up on a cd. I don't have a folder called "Install" , the closest I can find is "Installer" and it's not that big, so I'm wondering if this is a download folder you made for yourself?

That might be the source for creating restore CD's for the whole laptop. If the laptop didn't come with CD's, this is very likely the case.
