bsod's during d/l's

All these bsod's I am getting are starting with 0x000007#. # means different numbers or letters. Would this seem to mean there is definitely a problem with the memory?

Not necessarily a memory problem. There are a lot of things that it could be. Look over at the MS KB and see if anything over there can help.

Be mor specific about your problem. Give us complete system details and be more descriptive about the symptoms that lead up to that. Thanx.

If I was guessing I would say that the hard drive is the culprit. It could possibly be a power issue. Anything in your System or Application logs (Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer?

One time I was updating my adaware definitions and it bsod. Today I tried d/l tuneup utilitlies from tune-up.com and in the middle of the d/l I received a bsod. I don't remember the other 2. The past few days it happens once a day. I re-installed xp in between a couple of the bsod's , d/l on service packs and updates and i am still getting them. I pretty sure it's not the os but the HW so I just need to make sure what it is to fix PC.

thanks for any help. If you need more info I will try to give it.

Go to your hard drive manufacturer's website and download their diagnostic tools. They will have instructions on how to use them.

I knew it wouldn't last I just walked away from my computer for 10 mins and I get the following 0x0000007a (0xc07c1720, 0x000000e, 0xf82e4384, 0x04333860). I appreciate the explainations but with all these errors, can someone maybe pin point it down to what the main issue would be, please? I appreciate any and all help.

Did you run the HD diagnostics?
Common Causes of STOP Messages 0x00000077 and 0x0000007A, most of which are related to the HD.

No problem, there are other sources. You can grab SeaTools here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...SeaTools.shtml The file creates a bootable CD.

******************************************

Recommendation:
All selected physical diagnostics passed.

If you are not experiencing data loss and SeaTools reports File
System Structure errors, they may be caused by a lock-up or
failure to shutdown Windows correctly. Many times, these errors
may be repaired through normal system maintenance which
includes using the Windows provided "Defrag" and
"Scandisk / Chkdsk / Error Checking" utilities.

If you are experiencing a hardware error, you should isolate
the cause and replace the failing component. If you are unsure how
to proceed with repairs, contact a computer professional. After
completing any maintenance tasks, run SeaTools again to
verify that all errors have been repaired. If errors continue to
occur, the system may not be stable. Again, contact a computer
professional.

Did you run chkdsk /r with the recovery console yet? Boot with the OS CD to do that. The hard drive is not defective, you have corruption and that should fix it.

Ok, I ran chkdsk /r and it fixed 1 or more errors on the volume. Should I assume I will no longer see any BSOD's and my HD is fine now? If I do get more BSOD's should i believe there are problems with my HD and it needs to be replaced? Please let me know.

thanks for the help.

You can't assume anything. You can always run the diags again if you have any more issues - and chkdsk again if indicated.

0x000000F4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION
(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
One of the many processes or threads crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. As a result, the system can no longer function. Specific causes are many, and often best resolved by a careful history of the problem and the circumstances of the error message. One user, who experienced this on return from Standby mode on Win XP SP2, found the cause was that Windows was installed on a slave drive; compare KB 330100.
