Angry Fire Msn Virus'd!

Okay, about three days ago, I got a link from on of my friends on Messenger, being the fool that I am, I clicked it, and I downloaded the file from said website. So, it turns out that this link was sent by the virus and now, after downloading the file, I am now infected with said virus. I keep getting signed out of MSN and into Windows Messenger, *Go Figure* and I keep sending these virus'd links to my friends.

Now, my computer as been running like crap, I have adware up the Wazoo, and Norton thinks that it's doing something by removing trojans, *Five times of the same virus in a row, "trogan.dropper* and I don't know what to do anymore...

Do you have a software firewall? If so, I'd block all messenger services and email programs. Then, update your anti virus and anti spyware programs.

Once they're updated, disconnect the internet connection and have a go at it, run a scan or two, and see what that does. If it doesn't help, you might have to google for a "trogan.dropper" removal tool.

It would be beneficial for you to backup everything that is important since you might need to reformat. Before that though, you can try the antivirus, anti spyware, (SpyBot and/or Adaware), and there's always XP system restore.

Run all your scanners in Safe Mode. That should keep the Messengers from running. I'd suggest starting in Safe Mode with Networking and run an online scan at Ewido.net.
