Question XP Boot critical error

I get a Windows XP message at boot (the "send / don't send to Microsoft") that says - "System has recovered from a critical error". The system seems to boot fine (tad slow maybe) and works flawlessly. I tried adjusting virtual memory to default settings and so far, this error pops up every fifth boot or so. I really hate to do a restore as this is a new system and I have loaded a lot each day I have been on it.
Any help troubleshooting would be appreciated.
Thanks All
BD
