Gentlemen; I was following the other post on this because I have the same problem. OE has encountered a problem and must close before it opens. If you play with it long enough and go through this about 8 or 10 times, you might be able to get it open. This is a pentium 4, 3.2 gb, with windows XP Pro with all the latest updates. I have 2 spyware programs, a registry cleaner, and great anti virus (NOD 32) I have tried most everything you suggested in the other post, but no real difference. I don't think you can uninstall and reinstall OE in XP as it says this really doesn't uninstall it at all, but anyhow, I did try that and it made no difference. This all just started about a month ago for no apparent reason. Possibly after the latest January update for XP. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing so far has made any difference. Sometimes it opens normally, and most times it doesn't! Help please? Thank you!

I did try that already, but it made no difference. Somewhere I read that this really doesn't remove it and reinstall it, but more or less just the use of it.

This is all it tells you to do for XP or XP Pro: Been there , done that! No difference!
Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional 1. Remove Outlook Express 6.0 from Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional.a. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK. b. In Add or Remove Programs, click Add/Remove Windows Components. c. In the Components list, click to clear the Outlook Express check box, and then click Next. Outlook Express will be removed from the computer. 2. Reinstall Outlook Express 6.0 on a computer that is running Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional.a. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK. b. In Add or Remove Programs, click Add/Remove Windows Components. c. In the Components list, click to select the Outlook Express check box, and then click Next. d. After Outlook Express is installed, click Finish. |
