Office 2003 deleted .PST file

Hi, I'm running Office 2003 on Win XP. In an ill-advised mission to clear up some space on my hard drive I deleted my .PST file for Microsoft Office Outlook. This is the file that contains all my e-mails in it. Anyway, now when I open Outlook it says that the .PST file can't be found, and it opens a window for me to specify where it is. Of course it's not there, but when I click cancel Outlook just closes. I can't click anything else on the toolbar or anywhere during this, so I can't do anything as such. And what it's meant is that I've been without my e-mails for a number of days now

Anyway, if someone could advise on how to proceed it would be much appreciated. Perhaps if someone could send a small, empty but valid, .PST file I could specify its location and Outlook would work again? Anyway thanks a lot in advance for any help...

The easiest thing to do at this point is use System Restore. Restore to a restore point before you deleted the .pst files.

Clicking on the Mail icon in Control Panel will allow you to create a new profile, hence a new empty .pst.

Thanks a lot GLC, that worked perfectly Geekgirl, I'm sure the System Restore would have worked as well, it's just that I've made a number of changes since I deleted the PST file and I didn't want to undo them all, so this was a simpler solution.

Thanks again for the replies, JTH.
