Changing Drive Letters
In XP Pro, I have 3 HD partitions (C:, D:, and E
, a CD Rom and a DVD Rom. I have changed the CD-Rom and DVD Rom to drive letters R: and S:. This works well for the session. However, every time XP reboots, it will leave the CD Rom designated as R: but change the DVD Rom to F:. I know dern well I fixed this problem on a PC some time ago, but cannot remember how. I thought it was a TWEAKUI feature, but this seems not to be the case. I'd appreciate any help you might offer, thanks in advance.-- Doc |

try this;
open TweakUI --> My computer --> Drives this will bring up a list of all drive letters that can be and have been assigned, remove the checkmark beside drive letters you don't want assigned, in your case F: |

That's not exactly how TweakUI works - removing the check only prevents that drive from being displayed in My Computer or any explorer type window.
rave - I assume that is how the OP is reassigning the letters - what we need to do is figure out why it's not "sticking" from session to session. The only time my opticals revert is when I physically disconnect or reconnect them, or update my IDE drivers. That is normal behavior. |
