Anyone used this defragger?

I ran across JKDefragger (http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/), and was wondering two things.

1) Is there any reason NOT to use a third party defragger?
2) Is there any reason not to run a defragger as a screensaver?

Thanks!

Can't say that I would use a defragger made by someone I don't know well or at all....All defraggers have the potential of killing your data....

Not sure what you're asking in your second question.

Ok, point taken. I'm gonna risk it, as I just did a full system backup, and it says it uses the Windows defragmentation API...then again, my experience with ignoring advice on these forums has been all bad :-)

As for the second question, it has the option to run as a screensaver; whenever the screensaver kicks in, it works on the disk, and when you wake the comp up again, it stops. As far as I can tell, it's a kind of incremental defrag, so you don't end up with a ton of fragmentation to deal with at once.
I was just wondering if there's a hardware downside to defragmenting incrementally more often; I would think not, as it presumably stops when there's nothing left to do, so the total work done is no more than would be done if I waited and ran a defrag all at once.....

I use Diskeeper Pro, in the set it and forget it mode. It defrags all my drives in the background when needed - which is usually once a day - and it only takes a couple minutes.
