Black Screen
I recently had to format my HD and reinstall Windows Media Player. I downloaded the video drivers from ATI's site. When I would scroll the screen was not smooth. I found my disk and decided to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them. I now have a screen that is black. I can see the initial screen as the system boots, but it turns black as Windows loads. Any ideas?
My system is: ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe AMD XP 3000 Barton 2Gig Mushkin PC 3200 Dual Channel ATI All in Wonder X800X 2 X NEC 3540 CD DVD Read-Write Thermaltake 430 Watt PSU WD 250G SATA HDD Windows XP Media |

What kind of monitor are you using? Is it old?
Try booting into Safe Mode and switch the video adapter to the generic one and reboot. Then let Windows install the proper video driver while it's booting up.  Cricket

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 740N. Stupid question, I should know this, but how do I boot into safe mode?

Start tapping F8 after POST is complete to get the boot menu. I recommend VGA mode, not safe mode - and do a proper uninstall/reinstall of the drivers in the correct order - which is critical with All-in-Wonders.
