XP Install problem...

Okay, I recently did a new install of XP because my old one wouldn't recognize my computer because of a new motherboard and some other parts, so I did a new install. I did a quick NTFS format and after I installed a scheduled a chkdsk to perform after a reboot. I rebooted and chkdsk ran and rebooted automatically. It moved so fast after the check that I didn't see if there were any problems. After a reboot I got the black screen telling me that Windows was not shut down properly, or a hardware change caused a problem, etc, etc...

No matter what option I select it keeps rebooting and going back to that screen. I decided to reinstall XP again since thats all that was on there, but after the first screen where it extracts the initial files, it says its starting windows and reboots instead of asking me if I want to install or repair Windows and then goes back to the black screen.

Can anyone help me out here?

Hard drive and system details would enable us to provide you a better diagnosis. I'm going to take a shot from the hip and bet that you are using an IDE hard drive. Check your jumper settings.

I have a Seagate 7200.10 SATA 320 gb HDD and 2x 1 gig of G Skill ram.

I don't know what the problem was but after numerous attempts I finally got it to re-install, it might have been my BIOS settings, and I had a slight overclock but I don't see why that would cause the problem because I installed it the first time with an overclock. But after resetting my clock speeds to default it installed.

NEVER do an OS install when overclocked! That's one of the FIRST rules of overclocking.
