xp laptop drivers

Alright, i bought a laptop... compaq presario c500. Well its alright but I dont want vista, and i have xp pro at home here so i was wanting to put it on..

Well, on the hp site they have all the vista drivers but for xp they only have like 1 or two, so basically after i do a clean install id be left with a laptop that has few functions because of no hardware drivers.

Is there any place i can find them for it, or will the vista drivers work? I really want to get rid of vista because this is a low end laptop and the requirments are a little strong for it and i always loved xp. Plus there a bunch of garbage they put on the computer from facory that ive gotten rid of mostly but still not all.....i just want a fresh install.

Any ideas!?!

Thanks. chad.

oh, also, when i run xp setup it loads then before you can change the partitions and stuff, it will say the setup cannot continue because there is no hard disk found or somthing like that, is it not booted up when the setup is going?

hmmm....

"setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Mke sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufaturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue"

Any ideas on that one?
