XP Pro or MCE
I just finished my first build and have the choice of installing XP Pro or MCE 2005 as I have uninstalled licenses of each. From what I have read in older threads, I'd go with XP Pro which is what I manage on 10 other computers at work.
This new build is a box at home intended for light gaming, surfing, image editing, home movie burning. (Core 2 Duo/7600GT). I've already got TiVo but might want another option for a PVR so was going to add on a Tuner card at some point. Way I see it, MCE is not required to do any of this. Just enables the PVRing but there are other software option to install onto a more stable platform that XP Pro would be??? Question is: Just want to verify that given the above needs, you would still install XP Pro. |

MCE 2005 is no less stable than Pro, it's just Home with Media Center. Looks and acts just like Home till you open Media Center.
