corrupted profile question

Hello all,
I am running XP pro and received the "recovering from serious error" message, I understand I have a corrupted profile. I think I can follow the instructions from the good folks at micro$oft.
My question is when I do the create a new profile and transfer the files, will I lose my firefox settings, my mediaplayer music etc?
The first time I did it, I manually moved the files and something went wrong, and I wound up with a mess. I did a system recovery and all was as it was, no harm done, but still with a corrupted profile. I found the alternate method to automatically transfer the profile on a thread here. I am going to go that route, but I am curious now, what "won't" transfer..

Thanks as always, for any and all.

Not sure what the auto transfer does (I have not read the article), but:
Outlook .pst file (or any other mail files)
internet favorites
My documents
Desktop settings
basically anything that has to do with your account that is not a system-wide setting.
It's best to back up everything in the Documents and Settings/corrupted user folder before deleting and re-creating the user. This will give you a backup in case you miss something. Anything else will be stored elsewhere on the disk.

Thanks for the response.
I was beginning to wonder if the question was not clear, or too "dumb"

We are talking backup to cd and then loading to the new profile.
My concern there, please forgive my ignorance, was that I might copy over whatever was corrupted in the old profile?

Or would the corrupt data only be in the windows section, so I only copy over the stuff that isn't related?

Thanks for the help.
