You have a computer running 3.11? All you have to do is drop to DOS and make one. Put a blank floppy in and at the DOS prompt type:
format a: /s 3.11 runs on top of DOS - there is no such thing as a 3.11 bootdisk, you will be making a standard DOS bootdisk this way. |

Just for info
Hello
I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd just add 2 cents for anyone who may be interested. GLC is right about format a: /s making a DOS boot disk only BUT you can then make some simple changes to the autoexec.bat (and possibly the config.sys file as well) files on the boot disk which will allow you to boot into DOS from floppy and then switch to your HDD C: drive windows directory and run Windows automatically (so then you do effectively have a Windows 3.11 boot disk even though it's via DOS). You will need to examine the config.sys file on your C: hard drive and change the config.sys DOS boot disk file to reflect the same statements (I use DOS edit). This is necessary so that when DOS loads from the floppy it will set up an environment which is both compatible with your DOS and Windows run time requirements (drivers/memory etc). Then you change your DOS boot disk autoexec.bat file and add some statements to the end i.e. say PATH C:/WINDOWS;C:/WINDOWS/COMMAND and then a WIN statement which runs windows. You could also eliminate the path statement above and use a change to directory statement i.e. switch to the windows directory on the C: drive and then use the WIN statement. You may also need to examine the autoexec.bat file on the C: drive and make autoexec.bat on the DOS floppy compatible with DOS and Windows needs for startup etc.. All this may prove a little too complicated for the uninitiated but teaches you usefull stuff about DOS and Windows (an old DOS manual version 3 to 5 or thereabouts will come in handy - plenty of info out there on the web). If anyone wants to try it then I am happy to help out. I used to mess with all the old machines from the first IBM PC, XT, AT and up including PCDOS, MSDOS3.3 and up and Windows 3.1 and up but don't have these machines anymore. Windows 3.1 may be ancient but can be fun to play with. People probably think I'm crazy for still running Windows Me (buggy old thing but I have my work arounds) but I also use XP Pro and am soon to move to Vista. webgecko |
