Dual boot - XP + XP
Hello,
Here is my new build just finished 3/3/07: Intel BOXD975XBX2KR LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard 3 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6600 Antec Solo Black/Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 2 CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4 for a total of 4 gigs HE Neo 500 Watt psu EVGA eGeForce 7600 GT PCI-E graphics card Couple of DVD burners and a floppy dive. It is meant to be a digital audio workstation for creating music. Everything went fine. Now I am trying to install a second Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 to a second logical drive on the first physical disk. The first system install went fine. Now, after doing the f6 and loading the sata drivers I suddenly am taken back to the first screen and start all over again - never getting finished. Any advice? Thank you, Dan |

Can we ask why you are trying to do that?
You do not have to use F6 unless you are using RAID or a 3rd party controller - XP has native driver support for the Intel ICH in single drive mode. |

I am doing double boot so that one system is used exclusively as a digital audio workstation set up in a particular way and the other system is to be used for "normal" computing.
Originally, when trying to install the first system, it said I had no harddrives. After some research (perhaps poor research) regarding Windows and SATA drives, it was my understanding to use F6 and then insert the floppy "Intel Matrix Storage Technology" and it would have the drivers needed to see the SATA drives. I did this on the first install and all seemingly went OK. Now,I'm confused. Dan |
