Buffer Overrun - WHAT??

Dell XPpro, 1.5Gb 3GHz 120GigHD w/ 70Gig slaveHD
Auto updates, so all is well in that area. Watching video podcasts via iTunes. One podcast informed me iTunes exhibited a problem and shut down in middle of podcast. Restarted iTunes, same problem. Rebooted computer and again iTunes shut down in middle of this podcast. It's PhotoShopTV, BTW. Repaired iTunes installation. Same results. Ran QuickTimePro to view the podcast and it too shut down in the middle of running the same podcast. Explored the error message, I am told I have a buffer overload. I know that has to do with memory. I have virtual mem set at 2250 up to 4096. Doing a seach of buffer overloads on this site comes back with IE probs and Win98. Can anyone enlighten me about the buffer overload business and what to do? Thanks.

iTunes recently upated to v7.1 Quciktime is also up to date. Since my first post, I deleted the one podcast file that caused iTines/Quciktime to shutdown and re-subscribed to PhotoshopTV & downloaded file in question. I also set Virtual Mem to No Paging File. So far, all is fine, but I am not sure what to do about setting Virtual Mem: leave as is, set to system being in charge, or set min & max amounts.

If you have the hard drive space, defrag then set it to 4095 min and max.

Thats twice in 2 days I have seen people having issues with iTunes 7.1. What effect does setting the virtual memory like that have on the program?

I dunno - but I usually recommend 3x the physical ram for a pagefile, locked size so it doesn't fragment, with 4095 being the largest that the OS will accept.

Makes sense. I guess I'll have to go and change all of that around right now.
