How many computers can I install Win XP on
I have XP Home on my PC & XP Pro on my Laptop and the disks for both.
I was wondering if it were possible to take any one of these disks and load it onto another Laptop or is it only one copy per PC/Laptop? |

One copy per PC. If you retire a pc, then the retail version of XP allows you to legally move it to another pc.

You can only install and activate WinXP on one computer.

The question that I have with Windows XP being put on only one computer, what if for some reason you have to reformat your computer? Will Windows XP allow you to install it on to the that computer again after reformatting?

Yes, it will reinstall or repair install without any problems. You will have to reactivate it either with an internet connection or by phone. If it's been over 120 days since your last activation, it will likely activate on the internet without any trouble.

You might be confusing MS Windows with MS Office-
Windows is one activation at a time - ie installed on one PC at a time per license But Office allows TWO concurrent activations with the caveat the one is your main usage desk top and the other is on your part time remote usage laptop. Then just to confuse things a little more the Student Teacher version allows three concurrent installs which makes it a great deal as long as you do not need Access.
