Talking dwwin.exe crashes on shutdown

Hey techies, I've been having this problem for a while, and have narrowed my problem down... But that's just it, its not fixed yet

So, if my computer has been running for about two hours (if I do a reboot right away it wont show...), I get an error message from dwwin.exe stating "dwwin.exe failed to initialize" etc etc...

The message goes away very quckly so that's the most I've ever been to read of it. Furthermore, I've pin-pointed the source of this crash to SetPoint.exe, my logitech mouse driver. Reinstalling the driver didnt help. If I shutdown this program prior to the shutdown or reboot, the error doesnt happen.

What I need is pretty simple. Either a fix to the problem, or a way to automate closing the program before shutting down the machine. I've found a script online (that I modified) that allows me to do this... But if I put it in group policies under shutdown, or logoff scripts, it causes another error, this time with dumprep.exe

Please help me, I'm out of ideas.

Found this little tidbit that may help. dwwwin is the Dr Watson diagnostics and most times the shut down issue seems to be related to Adobe. Hope this works.

Have you looked in the Event Viewer to see what may be causing the issue?

nothing shows up in event viewer, thats precicely one of the issues here. if I had a nice error log it'd be Way easyer to diagnose.

but like I said, its tied to setpoint.exe, and I need a way to fix, if not fix then automate the shutdown of the program prior to the system itself shutting down.

Looks like setpoint.exe can be either tied into Logitech or it's a form of malware. Have you scanned with Adaware, Spybot and Ewido? According to this link, you may be dealing with something that needs to be removed.

Even this site that tells you about Startup Programs id's setpoint as malicious.

I scan my computer weekly with adawareSE, spybot, update my spywareblaster, and scan again with nod32. Plus, I Know that setpoint is not malicious scince I'm the one who installed it for the mouse I have, the MX1000. When I reinstalled the driver program the other day, there was no trace of setpoint.exe between installations.

Well, feedback here... Thanks alot Panama Red, but your help wont be required after all... Turns out that with a little more tweaking with my script, I saw that the setpoint.exe didnt have time to unload properly without a sleep command, thus resulting in the dumprep.exe crash..

All I did was put in a sleep command for 5 seconds, it allows setpoint to unload normally, and everything shutsdown well now.

Thanks for your effort.
